Day 5

Good Evening Scholars,
Yesterday was a blast with the kiddos. We finished our art projects and did some Rocket Math. It was fantastic. I am just going to go straight to the finished products:

Day 4

On Thursday we worked on so much together. We started our art projects and were not able to finish them, but what we have looks great. Below are pictures of some of the students depictions of the night sky and we used black paper to show the silhouettes for homes, trees and skyscrapers.

Below are pictures of some of the students working hard on their sky:

It is a great art project. Here are some pictures of finished backgrounds and silhouettes.

Day 3

Day 3 was an awesome day. We worked together on our rules in the classroom and all agreed on a big poster. It was a great start to our day.

We then started getting ready to write our creative stories by making graphic organizers of the 4 essential parts of a story. I used this poster below from the Learning Palace to help the students

Finally, we did Rocket Math!!! All the kids loved it and guess what...I was able to take pictures of the students working. They were so productive and I was so proud today of them.

Day 2

Today was the 2nd day of the summer school program and we talked abut how to write with feelings. Below is a poster in our classroom that helped students express themselves.

We also went over the 5 voice levels in the classroom today.

Finally, Tomorrow we are going to go over our classroom expectations and class rules. The white board is all set up for it.

Hopefully tomorrow we can start showcasing student work because I sent the letters home to parents. Please make sure your kids bring the forms back for our great art project on Thursday.

First Day of Summer School

Today we finished our first day of summer school. Each student is bringing home a journal each night to write about the night sky. We are using Joni Chancer's  book called Moon Journals: Writing, Art, and Inquiry Through Focused Nature Study.

Below is the classroom after the day ended. Each of the students were splendid and fantastic. I can't wait for day two.
